Auden House is a large detached Edwardian property that has been adapted and extended over the years to provide accommodation for up to 24 older people with all areas accessible by wheelchair. The home is situated in a residential area of Audenshaw and is in private ownership.
The philosophy of Auden House is to meet the needs and promote the independence and quality of life of each individual resident. Whilst living in our protected and caring environment, the dignity, integrity, and self-esteem of each person is respected; all residents are seen and treated as intelligent individuals in their tender years, as opposed to being just a number.
Our qualified manager is fully supported by a senior team, together with experienced care assistants and catering staff fully trained to a high standard. Qualifications include:
- Registered Managers Award
- Food Hygiene
- First Aid
Rooms are furnished to a high standard, but residents are able to bring any personal items of furniture if desired to retain that home from home feeling. Each room is lockable and also has a lockable piece of furniture, a T.V. point, nurse call system, and some have a private telephone point which can be connected on request.
Located in pleasant surroundings with landscaped gardens and patio area, the home is a two-storey building with a 5-person lift giving easy access to all rooms. Bathrooms are close to hand on both floors with specially provided bathing aids for those who are less mobile. There are two T.V. lounges and a quiet sitting area. This is a non-smoking home.
We acknowledge that meals are an important and enjoyable part of a resident’s stay with us. As such our residents have a choice of menu, which includes a variety of home cooked foods. Whilst we do have a pre-planned menu, every resident is consulted about their personal diet and preferences, and we are pleased to say that for several years we have been awarded the Tameside Environmental Services Clean Food Award.
Auden House offers a huge array of daily activities planned by our dedicated Activities Co-ordinator. Activities include bingo, arts & crafts and gardening. Music afternoons and entertainment are arranged regularly and a selection of large print books is on hand in our ever-growing library. Residents are encouraged to join in group activities, such as ‘Play Your Cards Right’ and gentle in-chair exercises.
