Auden House has been awarded the Investors in People Gold standard, joining the top 7% of accredited organisations across the UK who believe in realising the potential of their people.
Investors in People is the UK’s leading accreditation for business improvement through people management, and provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business.
The report produced gave the following rationale for the GOLD standard award:
“This achievement is testimony to the passion everyone who works at Auden House feel for the purpose of the business. People share the values of the home’s owners and appreciate being treated with respect and in turn provide a “home from home”, treating residents with dignity and as “one of the family”. There is a sense that this is the type of home one hopes to find for one’s own family members, knowing they will be well looked after. Auden House relies on recommendation as a mainstay of its marketing plan and is currently achieving its objective of 100% occupancy partly as a result of this.
Auden House does well at living its values and creating an active sense of purpose for all. The vision is to provide a home from home for residents and all staff know this and recognise the part they play in making this happen. Senior managers keep an eye on the changing market and develop staff and the environment accordingly.
For example, there is an increasing number of residents with dementia support needs and a dementia garden is being created to provide a super sensory space where residents can feel calm. Staff are being trained in dementia awareness and better recognise why residents moods switch in an instant and no longer take it personally.”
